Tuft & Needle Mattress Full Review

Tuft and Needle Mattress The Tuft & Needle mattress provides the highest comfort and has been widely praised online. It one of the top sellers on Amazon and has received thousands of positive reviews. One Amazon reviewer said “there is a cooling foam material in the top layer of this mattress. When you directly touch the mattress, you feel the heat being pulled from your skin. It is a great mattress for people who are unable to sleep when their mattress is too hot.”

Tuft & Needle gets high praise for regulating temperature effectively by most people who own this mattress. It provides the comfort offered by memory foam without breaking your budget. It has received numerous positive reviews for its affordable price. If you compare this mattress’s comfort and price with other mattresses in the same class, there really is no comparison. Truthfully, Tuft & Needle is almost twice as good.

The Tuft & Needle mattress is made of 2 poly foam layers that we will be discussing below. Its airflow promoting design allows it to quickly dissipate heat so you can sleep comfortably.

The Mattress is Ideal for People Who:

  • Are concerned about harmful chemicals – The mattress has certifications from Oeko-Tex, Greenguard, and CertiPUR-US to ensure it passes global and USA material tests to ensure a safe night’s sleep.
  • Want to have fast responsiveness – With this model, repositioning is easy, since the sturdy base layer and proprietary T&N Adaptive foam work together to quickly respond to each touch.
  • For back sleepers – Although the mattress has been designed to be very comfortable for all types of sleepers, those who sleep on their back might find it very supportive and relaxing.

Construction of the Tuft & Needle Mattress

This mattress is made from 2 affordable high-performance polyfoam layers. Both layers are made of Tuft & Needle’s proprietary Adaptive Foam that relieves pressure and provides support. The combination of the 2 layers aligns your spine. Let’s briefly look at the construction of this mattress.

Tuft and Needle Mattress Cross Section

Cover – Made from a polyester Tactel fabric and zippered rayon that you can remove to clean. That is very beneficial since mattresses do stain over time. Some mattresses do not allow you to take the cover off to clean.

First Layer – This is a 3-inch thick comfort layer that is made from T&N proprietary Adaptive Foam and infused cooling gel. The material acts like memory foam or latex in terms of support and pressure relief. However, this layer, unlike those foams, doesn’t trap heat inside the mattress. Instead, it uses the cooling gel and graphite to suck the heat away.

Second Layer – Made of a 7-inch high-density polyfoam. It gives the mattress its shape and serves as its foundation.

Tuft & Needle Firmness

Most people who have posted reviews say that the Tuft & Needle mattress is right in the center of the firmness scale when it comes to comfort. It gets a 5/10 score, with 1 the softest and 10 the firmest. This high-density lower layer provides added firmness to the mattress.

Motion Transfer

The Tuft & Needle mattress has a somewhat lower score in terms of motion isolation compared to high-end memory foam or latex mattresses. It is made from polyfoam and doesn’t perform the best in this department. However, users of the mattress have said that when they move it does not disturb their partners. That means that it offers some motion isolation at least.

This mattress contours to the shape of your body due to the T&N Adaptive foam which relieves pressure and prevents you from getting stuck on your mattress.

Edge Support

When it comes to edge support, this is an area that memory foams don’t perform very well. However, many users don’t care about sleeping or sitting on the edge of the mattress. However, if you prefer a mattress that offers good edge support, then the ideal choice is a hybrid mattress.

It is important to have a firm enough foundation to maintain a good level of comfort. The Tuft & Needle mattress provides this. The company recommends that the mattress be placed on a foundation, like box springs, a slatted frame, or on the floor. You need to ensure that airflow is not restricted if you will be placing it on the floor.

Warranty, Trial and Shipping

The shipping time will vary after you have placed an order depending on where you are located. The Tuft & Needle mattress is a type of bed-in-a-box mattress which means that once it has been made it gets vacuumed compressed and then is put in a box and shipped. Allow 72 hours after unboxing for it to fully take shape.

The mattress comes with a 100-night trial to test the mattress. If for any reason you don’t like it, you can arrange for the mattress to be picked up for a full refund

Tuft & Needle offers a 10-year limited warranty that is valid if you buy your mattress from Tuft & Needle or an official seller. If you purchased it via Amazon, then there are additional steps or terms you will be required to follow for your warranty to be activated. Make sure to read all the fine print.

Like with most other mattresses, this warranty covers only defects, such as indentations greater than 3/4 inch, something causing the foam to split or crack, or seams coming undone. It does not cover anything that is the result of wear and tear or abuse, just as torn fabric or stains, or because you don’t like how the mattress feels.
